Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster in Banner Elk is North Carolina’s first alpine coaster, offering an exciting ride through the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. The coaster spans 3,160 feet of track and includes three loops, waves, and thrilling curves. Riders use manual brakes to control their own speed, which can reach up to 27 mph. The ride is open year-round, including in snowy conditions, providing a unique experience during each season. On-site amenities include a gift shop, observation deck, and an optional multi-level ropes course located adjacent to the coaster for even more adventure.

Operating Hours:
Monday–Thursday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Friday–Saturday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Advance check-in is required for all tickets
Ticket purchases are made on-site during your scheduled time
Minimum age to ride: 3 years old
Minimum age and height to ride solo: 9 years old and 54 inches
Minimum age and height to operate a sled: 16 years old and 54 inches
Maximum rider height: 84 inches
Maximum combined sled weight: 375 pounds
Pregnant individuals are not permitted to ride
