Overview

Since its opening in 1962, the Phoenix Zoo has been a premier destination for wildlife enthusiasts and families alike. Nestled within the scenic Papago Park, the zoo spans 125 acres and houses more than 3,000 animals representing nearly 400 species, including many that are endangered or threatened.

Visitors can embark on four distinct trails:

Arizona Trail: Showcasing native wildlife such as coyotes, javelinas, and Mexican gray wolves.

Africa Trail: Featuring African species like lions, giraffes, and zebras.

Tropics Trail: Home to tropical animals including orangutans, jaguars, and Komodo dragons.

Children’s Trail: Designed for younger guests, offering close encounters with farm animals and interactive exhibits.

Additional attractions include the Safari Cruiser, Stingray Bay, and the Leapin’ Lagoon splash pad. Seasonal events like ZooLights provide unique experiences throughout the year.
